Why St. Ignatius?

Conflict Managers

We are very pleased withour Conflict Manager Program here at St. Ignatius, in place for the last five years. Fifteen 4th and 5th grade student volunteers have been introduced to mediation techniques, and have put those skills into practice on the playground as Conflict Managers.

Theses students participated in a ten hour basic training in August. After training they are able to work in pairs on the playground during the K-5th grade recess, helping to resolve problems in a responsible and fair manner. Through conflict management, students learn the importance of listening skills, expressing themselves in a clear and positive way, and dealing with conflict constructively both on the playground and in the classroom.
