Why St. Ignatius?

Chess Club

During the second half of the year, the students of the junior high are invited to learn and play chess. More experienced students are asked to help teach the new players. They learn how the pieces move and basic play. Mr. Beseau will work with the more experienced students, teaching them advanced moves and beginning strategies.

Chess club is open to any junior high student as long as space allows and follows an open play format. Students are encouraged to vary their opponents to increase their own experience. Statistics are kept for all players, but results are published for the top players only.

Currently play is on Tuesdays at noon in the computer lab. The sixth graders have had a great turnout and are eager to learn!
