Why St. Ignatius?

Parents' Association

The primary purpose of the Parent's Association in concert with the St. Ignatius School Advisory Council is to support a modern Christian education, help build a sense of community, and assist the school financially through various fund-raising activities.

Traditionally, the first Parents’ Association meeting of the year is held on Back-To-School Night where parents are urged to gather and greet one another after the summer break. Often pizza or a dessert is shared and new families are welcomed. At this meeting, fundraiser information is available and parents have an opportunity to hear a state-of-the-school message from the principal. After the general meeting, parents attend sessions with their child(ren)’s teachers to learn about the year ahead.

Parent education nights are held occasionally. Topics discussed range from stress management, computer security safety to ideas for celebrating Advent and parenting issues. Monthly Parent Association board meeting are held to give updates on fundraising and other issues and events.

Parents’ Association is a major fundraising arm of the school community. In the 2005-2006 school year they will contribute $110,000 toward the general operating budget of the school. Our annual auction has grown to be one of our most important fundraising events. The links listed below give important information about each of our fundraisers:

Parents at St. Ignatius take part in a Fair Share Program, which requires every parent to participate in fundraising and volunteer efforts to make our school successful. Full details of this program are outlined in our school handbook. We realize that building a strong school community happens only with the support and involvement of our parents and we are truly appreciative of the role our Parents’ Association plays in this process.
